MENIFEE (April 18, 2016) — Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley’s Senior Window Washing/Porch Cleanup and Senior Home Revitalization are two of the events being held during Menifee Better Together Day set for April 23, 2016.

For Menifee Better Together Day 2016, Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley will be helping 40 senior homeowners with exterior home revitalization and 10-20 with exterior window washing and porch clean-up. The homes will mostly be located in the Sun City area of Menifee in and around the Sun City Civic Association. Services for the Senior Home Revitalization include: yard clean-up and weed abatement, pruning of existing plants and shrubs, trash cleanup and removal, painting of trim or eaves, and planting of annual color or flowering plants.

These two events are being led by Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley in collaboration with the City of Menifee and the Menifee Interfaith and Community Service Council, and are part of Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley's ongoing neighborhood revitalization efforts through its A Brush With Kindness program.

The A Brush With Kindness program is a low-cost exterior home repair and maintenance program for low income homeowners. This program helps reduce blight and increase visual appeal of aging inland communities while helping homeowners stay in their homes and keep them affordable.

The events will kick-off with volunteer registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Sun City Civic Association followed by a Welcome and Orientation session at approximately 8 a.m. Work at the homes will begin and approximately 8:30 a.m. and finish up at approximately 11:30 a.m. There will be a barbecue for all participants at the Sun City Civic Association from noon to 1:30 p.m. This year we are anticipating more than 400 volunteers for the Senior Home Revitalization and Window Washing/Porch Clean-up.

Families that are volunteering for the event can participate in the "Make a Flower Bowl" craft headed by Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley Executive Director, Tammy Marine in the patio/barbecue area after the orientation meeting. Families will make a flower bowl for each of our Senior Home Revitalization recipients.

Media outlets are invited to attend any of the day’s events. If you would like to cover the work being done at the homes, a Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley representative will be available to direct you to a work site.
